Detailed walktrough trough Spirit of the Lost epic instance. Maps, detailed encounter description and strategy hints can be found in this article.
The way to free Frogloks is opened...
The way through the zone consists of 4 steps:
- Killing mobs outside/top platform
- Killing mobs inside dungeon causing respawn
- Killing mobs inside on the way back
- Killing mobs outside/top platform Venekor and Varanak
Killing mobs outside/top platform
Clean the area by stairs and by entrance to dungeon, go upstairs and continue
cleaning. As you approach pyramid pay attention to position of Eye of the
Watcher walking up and down pyramid stairs. Pull encounters that are close to
pyramid only when Eye of the Watcher is away up the stairs or you will get
Atrius the Watcher encounter as add. Once clean pull encounter with Atrius the
Watcher, use pet targeting Atrius himself to spend first AOE away from raid.
Description of Atrius the Watcher encounter:
Atrius the Watcher HP320k ATT: Crush, Fire RES:
Fire, Poison, Slash AOE Wave of Paralysis, Fire and STUN ~5sec, 45-60
sec range long 50m, (~1,5k) Golemic Punisher HP170k
ATT: Crush RES: Fire, Poison, Slash Barrage/AOE Dreadening Slam,
Crush, 40sec, very short range, ~1k 2xGolemic Protectorate
HP30k, Eye of the Watcher HP43k ATT: Crush, (Divine, Mental)
RES: Mental (both same resist) Best seem to have two main tanks, one
tanking Atrius the Watcher alone, the other taking all the other mobs in
encounter. Kill adds first (Punisher) then kill named.
Killing mobs inside dungeon causing respawn
General recommendations: Never fight on crossings. Make sure to pull through
so raid is behind the mob not getting barrages. If pulling into room, have raid
stand on sides of the door in corners and tank pull well into room from that
door so raid stays behind the mob. Avoid AOE spells inside by moving to safe
spot, all have over 30 sec re-cast time so there is enough space for fight in
between. Almost all AOEs inside are deadly to mid T6 players, but have short
range so can be avoided easily.
Go inside dungeon killing the encounters on the way. Order does not matter,
killing E3 Ukdan the Dark, E4 Swfzk the Mad, E7 with Krakat the Cruel and E8
with Krakan the Wary will cause E9 with Qzyk the Conqueror to spawn upstairs.
Killing Qzyk the Conqueror will cause complete zone repop in 30 secs after fight
finished with different mobs and locations this time.

Killing mobs inside on the way back
Proceed back to outside of the dungeon. It is not necessary to kill anything
inside the dungeon to be able to complete Frogloks quest. However currently it
has decent drop rate of masters from those mobs so it is recommended to kill
them just for that.

3xWarrior Spirit HP30k, 2xMalevolent Spirit HP30k, 3xDefiling
Spirit HP30k (heals) Deadly if done wrong. Tyrant casts
45 secs long AOE stun, short range. In case healers do not avoid it, it
becomes deadly, otherwise fun fight. Pull the group just outside of the
room to the junction, have main tank to stop them there. Rest of the raid
has to wait up hill by the door leading to room with NPC froglok. That
place is safe from AOE if Tyrant stays down by door to his room, and
casters can also reach him from there, so only melee dps run in/out to
avoid AOE. |

Magic, Mental, Poison, Slash AOE Enthralling Flames, Heat, 30-60 sec
(~2,5k, 1k-3,5k, short range) Very tough fight compared to others
you experienced so far in case you do not prevent Hundar the Punisher to
spawn. Pull the encounter to room where originally Achiole was standing.
Make sure to kill Ritualist Master as first mob and make it quick ~30
secs. He is slow and comes likely as last mob from encounter to the room,
still make sure to kill him first. If you kill him fast, it will prevent
Hundar the Punisher from spawn. In case Hundar comes, then
you are up for some nice fight. Perhaps best to have second tank waiting
in the corridor or even in main room E12 with his group for Punisher to
spawn, if that happens keep Punisher there with that second tank group and
give time to raid to kill the initial encounter then come to help.

Killing mobs outside Venekor and Varanak
Clean the encounters outside to make area clean for fight with Venekor.
Varanak is non aggro by that time. For encounters close to pyramid/Venekor use
proximity pull (body), do not cast at them; take them well far from Venekor
before doing so, otherwise Venekor and Varanak duo will add to help. Once all
clean the fight with Venekor comes to agenda.
Most likely you are up to fight both Venekor and Varanak at the same time. It
is possible to proximity pull Venekor from behind/pyramid so you are on the
other side then Varanak. In such case Varanak will not get aggro. However at any
time if Venekor will decide you want to run away from the battle he will call
Varanak to kill you and he becomes aggro going after raid. Cases that seem to
trigger that are, running away from Venekor, running in direction of
doors/Varanak, reviving by doors, etc. It is very likely this will happen even
when you manage initial pull of Venekor right, so approach in which you fight
both in parallel is recommended.
Varanak group
Send on group with secondary tank and heals to stand by Varanak. They can
stay right by him, since he is non-aggro by that time. Once he becomes aggro
taunt him and get him as far from Venekor fight as possible - main stairs area
is recommended. He cast AOE stun with damage, group with several healers will
have no issue with that. Walk him to side/stairs; keep him busy with one group
there. DPS not that impressive if not combined with adds. AOE has 50 meters
reach, goes through walls, so it is not realistic to avoid it.
Varanak the Everlasting ~HP450k ATT: Crush, Fire
RES: Fire, Poison, Disease, Piercing AOE Wave of Paralysis, Fire and
STUN, 45+ sec, range long 50m, (~1,8k)
Venekor group and rest of raid
Venekor casts several funny spells. Most
notable is his Acidic Mist, medium range AOE poison DOT. Can be group removed by
right healers. It ticks 4 times in 3 secs for up to 2k one tick, kills well if
not handled. Either make sure to have healers in group that can remove it and
stick with group or run in/out to avoid it, long recast so well doable.
He kicks, so make sure that you stand with back to wall, very important for
main tank and his group to keep heals/buffs.
He casts AOE stun ~5secs on different much shorter ~30 secs timer without
damage, however prevents from healing, just stand that. Due to this make sure to
run well in advance to avoid AOE DOT so you may get AOE stun when you least need
it and get held by that in range for AOE DOT.
Venekor HP450k ATT: Crush, Poison RES: Slash, Poison
AOE Acidic Mist, Poison, 70 sec, DOT 4x 3sec/tick, range medium, (~1,5k)
- kicks, fight back to wall 2xGolemic Protectorate
HP30k ATT: Crush, (Divine) RES: none
Idol of Thule
In addition to that fun, there is little statue (Idol of Thule) that is right
in front of Venekor spawn place. Have some person to try to click it at the
beginning of the fight to determine what class mage/healer/fighter is needed
this time to click it. Assign one person from that class to click it
during the fight. At some point Idol will start to cast spells. Clicking it
prevents that, do that until end of fight. Spells that Idol casts are fatal,
zone wide mesmerize, zone wide stun, zone wide whatever, long lasting, no escape
if in fight certain death.
Idol of Thule in front of Venekor needs to be disabled, by clicking on it or
stuns all zone *** Flames of Retribution(Fire) *** Wave of Wonder
(Magic) *** Toxic Tendrils(Poison) *** Shock of Thunder(Mental)
=permanent stun
So now when we have described all the variables that come into game, here
comes the plan. One group with secondary tank by Varanak. One group with main
tank back to wall in front of Venekor. Rest of raid on side wall of the zone
before pull. Main tank comes to distance to pull well Venekor and his mobs, and
initiates fight going back to wall and rest of his group. Secondary tank catches
Varanak as soon as it becomes aggro and moves it as far as possible from Venekor
fight, towards zone entrance a bit. Once Venekor casts the AOE DOT rest of raids
adds to kill him, and avoids next AOE DOT spells by running to pyramid stairs,
assuming the fight takes place by wall where main tank group was standing in
middle of zone. One person keeps clicking the idol. You kill Venekor, move to
Varanak, kill Varanak, get good feeling, you have done it : Go and claim your
title in froglok village.
After successful fight do not forget to climb up to the top of the main
pyramid where Atrius was spawned to make area discover.
